Calixa LavalléeBuried: Notre Dame Des Neiges, Montréal, Quebec, Canada
Calixa Lavallée was a Canadian composer best known for composing the music to "O Canada," the national anthem of Canada. Born in 1842 in Verchères, Quebec, he was a talented musician who studied in both Canada and the United States, and even trained at the Paris Conservatoire. Lavallée had a diverse musical career, performing, teaching, and composing in various styles, from opera to patriotic songs. Despite his significant contribution to Canadian heritage, he struggled financially throughout his life and died in relative obscurity in 1891.
