Thomas Macdonagh was an Irish nationalist, poet, playwright, and a leader of the 1916 Easter Rising against British rule. He was a founding member of the Irish Volunteers and played a key role in planning the rebellion. After the Rising, he was captured by British forces and executed on May 3, 1916, becoming one of Ireland’s celebrated martyrs for independence.
