This collection of casualty lists includes records of soldiers from the United Kingdom and Commonwealth nations between 1917 and 1919. The records, compiled from casualty lists published by the British War Office during the latter part of World War I, cover regions including South Africa, India, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Rhodesia, and Canada. Records typically include the name of the soldier, rank, death year, date of appearance in the casualty list, place of enlistment, service number, and, when available, details about medals awarded.

Casualty lists were originally published daily in national newspapers from the start of the war, but in August 1917, the practice was discontinued due to concerns over morale and a nationwide paper shortage. These records provide valuable insight into the service and sacrifices of soldiers during the final years of World War I.
